Dalian Maritime University

Dalian Maritime University (DMU) is the key maritime institution under the Ministry of Transport, People’s Republic of China. DMU is one of the key universities in the national “Project 211” and "Double First-Class" Initiative. The University is regarded as “the Cradle of Navigators” and is a famous higher maritime institution in China. DMU enjoys a high reputation internationally as an excellent center of maritime education and training as recognized by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). At present, DMU has 50 undergraduate programs, 7 primary doctor programs, 20 primary graduate programs, and 7 post-doctoral centers (R&D base). DMU also confers engineering master’s degrees in 14 fields. Besides, DMU owns 2 national key disciplines, 14 key disciplines of provincial and ministerial level, 2 provincial key disciplines (in nurturing) and the engineering disciplines rank in 1% in ESI. DMU owns 1 National Engineering Research Centre, 2 national Science and Technology Cooperation Bases, 10 provincial research centers for industrial technology and 20 key labs of provincial and ministerial level. In the meantime, DMU possesses 1 national talent training model pilot zone, 5 programs listed in the national outstanding engineering education and training plan, 6 National Specialties, 1 program with national engineering education’s certification. Other excellent educational resources include 4 national education centers for engineering practice, 4 experimental teaching demonstration centers on national level, 4 provincial training mode reform pilot programs for engineering undergraduates and 1 provincial pilot program for internationalizing course system, etc. On academic fields like Marine Traffic Engineering, Marine information Engineering, Intellectualized Ships, Ship’s Power System and Energy Saving Technology, Engine Repair and Construction, CIS, Marine Environmental Protection and Maritime Legal System, DMU has gathered a group of respected experts and professors with profound theories and exceptional research skills as well as youths backbones with active and innovative academic thoughts.

University of Houston is the 3rd biggest university in Texas, The Carnegie Foundation classifies UH as first-class research university and it locates in the city of Houston, which is the fourth-most populous city in the US. Houston is world-renowned for its industrial base in energy, aeronautics and transportation. And the Port of Houston ranks 6th globally and it is also the busiest one the America with the most international waterborne tonnage handled. Out of more than 70 marine research institutions, half of which set their headquarters in the Houston. Except New York City, Houston has more Fortune 500 headquarters than any other U.S. municipality.

UH Cullen College of Engineering ranks top 70 across the US institutions. The program of Mechanical Engineering is ranked top 30. And Cullen College of Engineering has the first Subsea Engineering program in the US. The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Civil and Environmental have developed rapidly in recent years and become a competitive department within the country. Cullen College of Engineering has an exceptional faculty with 14 members of National Academy of Engineering. Each year the college invests more than 26M dollars in research expenditures. Also, the Cullen College of Engineering owns multiple research centers on national level, for instance, Texas Center for Clean Emissions, Engines & Fuels, UH Nano system Manufacturing Center, National Center for Airborne Laser Mapping (Sponsored by NSF) and award-winning Texas Center for Superconductivity at UH. Meanwhile, all the programs’ courses across the college have been accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET (abbreviation for Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology). In the year of 2019, College of Engineering had been named as Best Engineering School of Engineering and several engineering programs were awarded Top 100 Engineering Programs in the US by US News & World Report
