Roberto Ballarini教授，大连海事大学休斯顿国际学院美方院长，休斯顿大学工学院土木与环境工程系主任，获评美国土木工程师协会（ASCE）2021年“杰出人物（Distinguished Member）”。该奖项是ASCE授予的最高荣誉。每年，在每7500位协会成员当中，至多一人可以获此殊荣。

Roberto Ballarini, Thomas and Laura Hsu Professor and Department Chairman of Civil and Environmental Engineering, has been elected as a Distinguished Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Distinguished Membership is the highest honor the organization can bestow.

什么是Distinguished Member？

“杰出人物”是指在工程、人文或科学相关领域取得杰出成就的人，包括工程教育和建筑领域。

"A Distinguished Member is a person who has attained eminence in some branch of engineering or in the arts and sciences related thereto, including the fields of engineering education and construction."

“杰出人物”是美国乃至全球范围内在土木工程领域的最高奖项之一。ACSE赋予“杰出人物”在协会中完全的、优先的权利。每年，在每7500位协会成员当中，ACSE可以将该项荣誉授予至多一人。自1853年至今，全球仅有约700人获此殊荣。
