From October 17th to 19th, the 8th joint conference of Sino-foreign Cooperatively-run Institutions was successfully held in Chengdu. This conference was guided by the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges (Office of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs), hosted by the Institutions Co-committee, and organised by the SWJTU-Leeds Joint School. Yan Bingchen, deputy director of the Department of International Affairs of Ministry of Education, and Mao Dongmin, director of the Department of supervision and administration of foreign education attended the conference and delivered guiding speeches and business report. More than 280 members from about 130 cooperatively-run institutions joined the conversation, which was themed by “Sino-foreign Cooperatively-run Institutions in the post-epidemic time: New Challenges, New Opportunities and New Achievements”.
Shao Guang, secretary of CPC committee of the Houston International Institute, was invited to take part in the conference and rendered a report entitled “A few Considerations on Reinforcing the Party and Ideological and Political Courses Development of Sino-foreign cooperatively-run institutions” within the paralleled sub-forum of “The Party and Ideological and Political Courses Development of Sino-foreign cooperatively-run institutions”. In the report, he centered on “Stay true to our original aspiration, reinforcing the top-level plan of Party and ideological and political courses structuring; Explicating excellent moral qualities, building top team for the Party and ideological and political courses development; Keeping positive and innovative, building the brand connotation of the Party and ideological and political courses development”. The three aspects, introducing the basic methods and highlights of the requirements of “three synchronised steps” of the Houston International Institute of DMU. He shared the experience with the participants about how to explore the new ways of building the fundamental Party construction and how to ensure high quality of the fundamental Party construction, etc.
Participating in the joint conference not only deepens our contact with Sino-foreign cooperatively-run institutions, but also provides us with precious experience of the development of Sino-foreign cooperatively-run institution of our university. It plays an important role of the enlightenment and reference in some aspects from now on, including the Party building, teaching staffs, courses settings, training modes and deepening the education opening up of the institution.
