引进课程“工程计算导论”
线上教学研讨会
3月9日，休斯顿国际学院召开引进课程“工程计算导论”线上教学研讨会。会议由学院美方院长、休斯顿大学工学院机械系教授Li Sun和电子系教授Fritz Claydon共同主持。休大工学院教师Dan Burleson、工学院机械系教师Di Yang; 我校信息科学技术学院教师怀率恒、交通运输工程学院教师耿相日、船舶与海洋工程学院教师王肇贵参加了会议。会议积极探索引进课程教学模式，着力推进线上线下混合式授课方式，旨在保障本学期引进课程教学工作顺利进行。
On 9 March, Houston International Institute (HII) held a preparation meeting of the Introduced Course "Introduction to Computing for Engineers" on line. The meeting was hosted by Dr. Li Sun, Director of HII and Professor of ME, UH Cullen College of Engineering and Dr. Fritz Claydon, Professor of EE, UH Cullen College of Engineering. Dr. Dan Burleson, Dr. Di Yang from UH Cullen College of Engineering; Dr. Shuaiheng Huai (Information Science and Technology College), Dr. Xiangri Geng (Transportation Engineering College), Dr. Zhaogui Wang (Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering College) from Dalian Maritime University attended the meeting. The meeting actively explored the teaching mode of Introduced Courses, focused on promoting the online and offline mixed teaching method, aiming to ensure the smooth progress in teaching work of the Introduced Course “Introduction to Computing for Engineers” this semester.
会议期间，双方教师就新冠疫情期间网络授课的经验与成果进行了分享与交流，针对教学方法、教学模式开展了沟通和研讨。结合第一学期“工程概论”网络授课的实际工作，双方商定并明确了本学期引进课程“工程计算导论”的教学工作内容，包括两校教师的分工与合作、授课形式、课程安排、教学计划等。双方将聚合两校教学资源，实现优质教育资源共享，有效利用Blackboard（BB学堂）作为辅助教学工具，为学生提供简易可行、畅通无阻的学习途径。会议还明确了休方学生助教的工作内容，设立专门的线上互动时间，针对课程内容为学院学生进行答疑解惑，进一步促进两校学生的沟通和交流。
First, Dr. Fritz Claydon and Dr. Dan Burleson introduced themselves, and so did faculties from DMU, including Dr. Xiangri Geng, Dr. Shuaiheng Huai, Dr. Zhaogui Wang. Dr. Di Yang and Dr. Li Sun shared their experiences related to online teaching.Second, duties on each side are clarified: Dr. Claydon and Dr. Burleson will be taking care of the lectures through the zoom meeting service, and coordinators from DMU will be in charge of releasing class materials before class time, grading projects and organizing exams.Third, the course will be divided into three units and Dr. Claydon will be in charge for unit 1 and 3, Dr. Burleson will be in charge for unit 2. With each end of one unit, there will be an exam. Overall, there will be 3 exams and additional 4 projects for students.Four, we will share the class materials using the Blackboard service. We also plan on recording each of the lecture and upload it to the Blackboard as well.Five, the duty of the TAs from UH is clarified. They will have office hour for DMU students who may have questions regarding to class materials.
本次研讨会是双方教师合作与交流的良好平台，也是学院推进教学方法和教学模式创新的有益尝试，为即将开启的新课程的顺利进行奠定了良好基础，有助于高质量、高效率地完成本学期引进课程的教学任务。
The meeting is a good platform for the cooperation and exchange between teachers of both sides, and also a beneficial attempt for the institute to promote the innovation of teaching mode. It has laid a good foundation for the smooth progress of the upcoming new curriculum, and is conducive to the high quality and efficient completion of the teaching task of the introduced curriculum this semester.
