At noon of July 20th, Houston International Institute held a working lunch meeting with the lecturers of the School of Science. Zhang Jinlei, dean of Houston International Institute, He Jiantong, deputy dean of Houston International Institute, lecturers of Calculus group, teaching assistants of University Physics group, teaching assistants of Physics Lab from School of Science and secretary of academic affairs attended this meeting.
Zhang Jinlei expressed her heartfelt thanks to the faculty members who joined the meeting, saying that they played a very crucial role in the smooth running of the spring and summer semester courses. After that, she answered the teachers' key concerns respectively, explained the corresponding relations of course hours between the UH and DMU, and then emphasised the collection of teaching process data and the construction of communication mechanism between teachers and students.
He Jiantong clarified the work responsibilities of DMU instructors and teaching assistants, and said that the college would improve the standardisation of teaching management, provide teachers with better teaching resources and platforms, and develop discipline construction. He emphasized that in the teaching process, teachers should grasp the ideological situation of students and strengthen the role of ideological and political courses.
Subsequently, the participating teachers discussed about “academic integrity” and “academic style construction”, and made active suggestions on the construction and teaching reform of Calculus, University Physics and Physics Lab courses, which solved many practical problems and helped to further enhance the standard of the introduced courses and better adapt to the teaching requirements under the new situation.
